With Miley Cyrus stirring the tabloid gossips and posing for semi-scandalous photos, it's about time for another Disney starlet to take over the role of innocent tween idol. The good news is, the girl who's best poised to succed in Miley's footsteps is a Latina! Fifteen-year old Selena Gomez stars in Wizards of Waverly Place, which consistently beats Hannah Montana in the ratings game, and the New York Post has already dubbed her the new Miley. All good signs of what's to come for this Texas native, who like her predecessor, also has vocal chops and is working on a debut album.

While it's exciting to watch Gomez rise to the occasion, forgive us if we throw a little anxiety into the mix...after all, we don't want her to grow into stardom too fast! Judging by her recent red carpet evolution, we're worried that Gomez may already be a little overstyled by her handlers. At an August 2007 premiere for High School Musical 2 (photo, left) Gomez arrived virtually makeup-free with straight, unadulterated brown locks. In January 2008, the actress attended the Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds premiere (photo, right) sporting a much more gussied up look: full foundation, smoky eyes, glossy lips and fire-engine red extensions. Cute, sure--but age-appropriate? That's up for debate.
