What started as an arena for fashion designers to showcase their latest clothing lines, has evolved into a space where beauty pros give us a preview into new trends in hair, makeup and most recently, nails. Here are a few of our faves.
1. NYFW Spring 2014 Beauty Trends: Statement Eyes
From dewy lids to sparkly peepers, look-at-me eyes were a big hit. If you’re trying these at home, do like the pros and maintain balance by keeping lips and cheeks minimal.

2. NYFW Spring 2014 Beauty Trends: Nude Nails
Keeping clothes and makeup as the focal point of these shows, the lead manicurists chose neutral shades that still made a statement. For a bold nail look, choose a shade that is drastically different than your own complexion. They’ll stand out in a chic, understated kind of way. Or choose one that matches your skin tone. That way when your nail chips, it’s less noticeable.

3. NYFW Spring 2014 Beauty Trends: Glitter Nails
Glitter has come a long way, evolving from girly to womanly. Season after season, the pros backstage find new and creative ways to make sparkly nails as fashion-forward as the designs themselves. From delicately painted tips to full-blown statement manis, the range for how out-there they are changes from show to show.

4. NYFW Spring 2014 Beauty Trends: Matte Lip
This is one look that is here to stay. Somehow, a zero-shine lip instantly upgrades an entire outfit. It’s elegant, yet totally cool. The trick is to make sure your lips are smooth (use a lip scrub to treat a chapped pout) and to use a clear liner so that the color won’t migrate.

5. NYFW Spring 2014 Beauty Trends: Low Pony
The Low Pony
A style that was once only reserved for gym class is now a beauty staple. It can be as simple as tying back sleek locks or as extreme as bedazzling your center part. The best part is it works with whatever your hair texture is at the moment—just pop in a fun accessory.
