If you’re a fan of this affordable Target beauty line, you’ll be perfectly pleased to know that Pixi has just released a 30-shade line of Nail Polish ($12, pixibeauty.com). And the formulations are free of the evil three: formaldehyde, toluene, and dibutyl phthalate (DBP), ingredients that have at times been linked to irritation and developmental defects. Remember kids: Safe is sexy.

While miniature sizing does render most things all the cuter, new Tweezerman Matchbox Itty Bitty Files ($4 each, tweezerman.com) are also made much more efficient, thanks to their smaller, slimmer status. The tiny nail files are actually housed in small matchboxes, so you can tuck one or the whole box into the littlest handbag you own. And their diminutive size makes it a cinch to file around nails and smooth stubborn cuticles.

For someone who does her own manicures (I don’t have the patience for salons), I do my fair share of messing them up before I’m even done. The usual culprit is the cotton ball drenched in acetone I grab to remove leftover polish from my skin, which inevitably smudges some nails. And that’s regardless of how careful I am. So, when ASP Manicure Saver Cotton Claw launched at Sally Beauty Supply for $3, I knew I was going to add it to my manicure kit.

Clinique has always been known as a sort of “big sister” in the cosmetics world. She’s the one you turn to when you get your first zit; she’s the one you consult when you want to start using a “big girl” skincare regime. The products in her line are gentle, dermatologist-recommended and comfortingly safe.

What comes to mind when you think about shaving? Do you think of the razor, the cream, or getting cuts and bumps? Would you ever think of a ring? Now that the Rolling Razor ($15, rollingrazor.com) is available, you just might. Unlike your traditional shaver, it has two curved razor heads on top with three blades inside each. The handle is a circular ring, so you can put your finger through it as you shave.

For skin that reacts negatively to hair removal with traditional forms of wax—by, say, getting red, irritated or bumpy—there is hope in the form of natural waxes. The natural wax used at Uni.K.Wax Center is a supple pinesap and beeswax concoction that’s gentler on skin. The Uni.K.Wax Center (unikwax.com for locations) is a unique waxing-only salon devoted to treating the temple that is your body with the utmost respect. The rooms are brightly lit and clean.

Did you know there are studies that show happy people look younger? There is also a study from Harvard Medical School that says one person’s happy-peppy mood can transfer to her friends and those around her. Also, the smell of grapefruit has the ability to lift the spirits. Fascinating, no?

Do your nails chip at the worst possible moments? Like right after a manicure, or just before a date? My nails chip easily, so I’m usually trying different nail strengtheners in an effort to solve that problem. I just tried Perfect Formula Gel Coat ($21, qvc.com). It’s a thick clear polish made with keratin, which is a protein naturally found in nails, and calcium to help make nails stronger.
