I was in New York from DC for an event and the rain was relentless all day. The last thing I wanted to do was make the slushy trek into Manhattan from Brooklyn to check out a spa. Still, duty called. When I arrived at the Waldorf Astoria, I thought it was beautiful, of course; but a bit stodgy and traditional. The setting did nothing to lift my rain-soaked mood.
But then I entered the lobby of the The Guerlain Spa. Wow. That was my first thought. I really had no idea what to expect, and was pleasantly surprised by the sleek, modern, light and airy space. It's actually a nice juxtaposition to the hotel.
Guerlain Spa has touches that I think every spa should adopt. A glass of Champagne upon arrival: Check! A relaxing footbath while you fill out the background form: Check! A personal suite including bathroom and shower where the services come to YOU instead of you going to them: Check and check!
My therapist, Lynda, was so nice; but I appreciated her knowledge even more. I was having the Guerlain Radiance Facial--an hour of pure bliss. It was so stress free--even my extractions, which can sometimes be painful, were stress free. I went in thinking, no extractions, no extractions, because I wanted to preserve my face for the event later that evening. But under Lynda’s guidance and advice, I moved forward with the extractions and could not have been happier. There was no trauma to my skin; instead it was smooth and radiant (just as promised). The Guerlain Spa products Lynda used are now on my Christmas, Birthday, Just-Because wishlists, specifically the Super Aqua line, which, it turns out, worked wonders on my combo skin.
Lynda suggested that I get a facial every 4-6 weeks. Let me see… That means I’ll be back in NYC at the Guerlain Spa by April 10th. Can’t wait!
