New Botox Rival Approved

The muscle relaxer Botox has some new competition by the name of Dysport, a new FDA-approved form of Botulinum Toxin A. Botulinum Toxin A is an FDA-approved muscle relaxer that temporarily “freezes” muscles to reduce the appearance of wrinkling in the forehead. The main ingredient in Botox and Dysport is the same, but the carrier system—the proteins that help transport the Botulinum Toxin A—is different.
In clinical studies conducted in the United States over the last few years, other differences shown included the radius of the effected area; once injected via needle, the radius of effected muscles is slightly larger with Dysport. That means you wouldn’t potentially need as many injections to completely relax, say, the glabellar lines (those are the lines in between your eyebrows) with Dysport as you might with Botox. The studies also showed that Dysport results last up to four months. And though Dysport is also technically less expensive than Botox, the final cost will always depend on how much of the substance you inject into your skin.
