Eyebrows 101: How to Frame Your Face

Most makeup artists agree – your whole face is impacted by the look of your brows. They can enhance your beauty and open up your eyes. We got the scoop from Joey Healy, brow specialist, on how to properly groom your brows to frame your face and look your best.

“I constantly see Latinas that are left with very thin eyebrows, and I think that often results from overuse of wax or thread,” says Joey, a New York City-based brow expert and founder of the Joey Healy Eyebrow Collection product line. That’s why he employs a strictly tweezing-only method. “Wax can not only cause irritation in that area of the face, but with constant use produces aging and sagging,” Joey says.

To create a fuller brow with a defined arch, follow these steps:

1. Tweeze as normal, while making sure to follow the line of your normal brow. You don’t want to overtweeze! Brush up and out, and trim the top of the brows to create a shape.

2. Fill in any noticeable gaps and accentuate your arch with an eyebrow pencil in a shade that best batches your hair color. (Try the Joey Healy Brow Architect Stylo, $25)

3. Set brows with a clear gel mascara.
