Does This Work? Eye Cream for Sensitive Skin

Latina's Fashion Market Editor Verky Arcos recently mentioned that she’s never found an eye cream that her sensitive skin can tolerate—which was music to our beauty road testing ears! We piled up all the eye treatments we could find on her desk, crossed our (manicured) fingers that she didn’t breakout in a rash, and waited for the results!

What They Are: All sorts of eye creams, including Aveeno Active Natural Anti-Fatigue Eye Treatment, Kate Somerville Kateceuticals Multi-active Repair, ROC Retinol Correxion Sensitive Eye Cream, Estee Lauder Idealist, Laura Mercier Repair Eye Serum, and Olay 7-IN-1 Anti-Aging Eye Cream.

My Results:
As I get closer to the big 3-0, I’ve become more and more obsessed with staying wrinkle-free. I have always heard that eye creams are very important as crow’s feet are one of the first signs of aging. So naturally I began applying all kinds of eye creams every night. However, every morning I would wake up with my eyes super irritated and even swollen at times. Later I realized that I suffer from very sensitive skin around my eye area just like my mom has her entire life.

For a couple of weeks now, I have dabbed on a bunch of eye creams. No, I can’t tell you if they’ve stalled the wrinkle process, but I can tell you which irritated my eyes. The Kate Somerville, at first, felt just fine, but minutes into having it on, the tingle began and I had to remove it. The Aveeno had a slight tingle when applied, but, honestly, it is one of the eye treatments I gravitated to the most. I enjoyed its practical compact tube; to apply, simple roll the cool, soothing metal ball under your eyes! Most surprisingly was the Roc Retinol Correxion Sensitive eye cream, which burned my eyes immediately after I put it on. The two eye creams that did not irritate my eyes at all were the Olay 7-in-1 anti-aging cream (bonus: it has an easy-to-use brush) and the Laura Mercier repair eye cream. But the one I have continued to use is the Estee Lauder Cooling Eye Illuminator. I’m not sure if in time it lightens your dark circles or prevents wrinkles, but I love it because it doesn’t hurt my under eyes and it’s similar to a tinted moisturizer.
