Does This Really Work: Three-Tier Nail Enamel
| 06/11/2009 - 15:00 |
Paul & Joe Beauté Gold Nail Enamel Collection ($14 each at beautyhabit.com) consists of three limited-edition shades for the summer. Each one has three fun layers: shimmer on the bottom, opaque color in the middle and a clear shade on top. These combine only if you shake the cute floral embossed glass bottle, but they eventually fall back into their individual places. The formula has good-for-your-nails ingredients like chamomile extract and a form of vitamin A to moisturize, and jojoba oil to soothe.
I noticed there are two ways to use these polishes: by shaking it before painting your nails for a stronger more shimmery look, or allowing the brush to pass through each separate layer in the bottle and grab a little of each one for a lighter, more subtle look. I tried the pink version called All That Glitters. It's a pink shade with soft pink sparkles—which are fine particles, not like your 6-year-old niece’s chunky glitter polish. Without shaking the formula, I painted my nails and got just the right amount of shimmer. It goes on nice and sheer and the last clear level in the bottle acts like a top coat. The other color options are gold and bronze. I’m tempted to buy all three just to showcase the unique tiers and pretty packaging on my vanity.
