Does This Really Work: Cotton Claw

For someone who does her own manicures (I don’t have the patience for salons), I do my fair share of messing them up before I’m even done. The usual culprit is the cotton ball drenched in acetone I grab to remove leftover polish from my skin, which inevitably smudges some nails. And that’s regardless of how careful I am. So, when ASP Manicure Saver Cotton Claw launched at Sally Beauty Supply for $3, I knew I was going to add it to my manicure kit.

True to its name, this handy tool holds the cotton for you. It looks like a pink skinny tube with a black button on top. When you push down on the button metal claws open from the bottom of the tube ready to grab a cotton ball. And when you release the button, the claws close up again and grasp the cotton tightly. I hold the cotton claw as if it was a pen and it’s easy to use. Even when I rub it on all my nails to take off color, the cotton doesn’t budge (until you push the button again to release it). I think it’s a great way to keep the cotton and your freshly painted nails far away from each other so there are no messy encounters. At least there haven’t been any more for me.
