Travel Beauty Basics
By Angelique Serrano | 05/13/2010 - 12:00

I'm just going to say it: Most complimentary hotel shampoos and conditioners suck. Well, okay, if you’re staying somewhere ultra luxe and glamorous, I'm sure you get some pricy name brand bottles in the bathroom. But most of the times I use the free stuff and it feels like I’m washing my hair with liquid detergent.

Fresh Scents in Small Bottles
By Angelique Serrano | 05/10/2010 - 15:04

Fresh has some of the purest, most enchanting fragrances around. Their ingredients are concentrated, and often rare (hence the higher price points). That’s why we at Latina are absolutely giddy about their new Petite Parfums, a collection of plane-friendly one-ounce glass bottles of some of their popular scents. Not only can they move easily through Customs but the price ($32 each, fresh.com) makes them a much easier purchase.

Your Skin Looks Amazing! (How Much Did It Cost You?)
By Angelique Serrano | 05/06/2010 - 12:00

Recently I was told my face looked healthy, flushed and so well rested. This is a compliment I can't recall hearing in my whole life. (Usually I hear how tired, run-down and pale I look.) I suspected I knew what it was that prompted this comment, so the next day I tickled my cheeks with another helping of La Prairie Cellular Radiance Cream Blush in Peach Glow. I swear, I got two "You look pretty"-comments and one: "You look really good today." It has to be this blush—this incredibly blendable, easy-to-wear anti-aging cream with gorgeous color kick.

Eye Cream Worth Keeping
By Angelique Serrano | 05/04/2010 - 17:21

Eye creams confuse me. I know I need to use one, but I always forget to do it. Heavy eye treatments for night really turn me off because they leave my skin feeling greasy. They also leave a telltale stain on my pillow!

Makeup Artist Concealer
By Angelique Serrano | 04/27/2010 - 12:27

For the most part, having dark under-eye circles is a hereditary issue. But that doesn't mean we have to take it lying down! This three-step concealer is by far one of the best I have tried. If you have a few minutes to invest in the process, it will deliver professional results. Seriously.

Pistachio Perfume?
By Angelique Serrano | 04/15/2010 - 12:00

I like a good lick of pistachio ice cream once in a while. But I was shocked to learn how much I love the Laura Mercier Crème de Pistache line of body products. This particular pistachio scent is so delicious you’ll be tempted to lick the pale green Souffle Body Crème ($55, lauramercier.com) right out of the jar. At once light, sweet and oh-so-unique, it'll be one decadent zero-calorie treat in which you can indulge.

Before You Apply Lipstick…
By Angelique Serrano | 04/13/2010 - 12:00

Draw around the outside of your lips with a flesh-colored lipliner. I like Maybelline Color Sensational Lipliner, Nude ($6, Walmart.com). This will help define your lips and keep the lipstick from bleeding. And as opposed to using a liner that matches the color of your lipstick, with a flesh-tone outline you won’t be left with a dark ring around your mouth after your lipstick has long faded.

Noxema Gets a Makeover
By Angelique Serrano | 04/08/2010 - 12:00

Every girl can recall the first time she smelled Noxema. I was 12, spending a summer week with my Aunt Hilda. I didn't have a skin care routine yet, but already longed for my own bottles and jars of magic beauty creams that would make me look pretty and grown-up. Before bed, my aunt gave me a tub of Noxema to wash my face. I unscrewed the blue lid and inhaled deeply. Oh, that creamy, tingly, slightly astringent scent; I would never forget it.

By Angelique Serrano | 04/01/2010 - 12:00

Since coloring my hair it’s been dry, dry, dry. I tried the new duo from Carol’s DaughterRosemary Mint Purifying Shampoo and Conditioner ($13 and $16, carolsdaughter.com)and now it’s soft, smooth and shiny! Really, my hair is softer and looks so much healthier than it did a few weeks ago. And I know it’s a direct result from switching to this shampoo and conditioner.
