Great news for Salma Hayek! The Mexican actress’s beauty line, Nuance, and CVS/pharmacy were honored yesterday with the Launch of the Year: Mass Award by Beauty Inc, a Women’s Wear Daily special-issue magazine. According to a press release issued by CVS/pharmacy, the award recognizes “company-wide and individual brand achievement for innovation and resonance with consumers.”
The award is pretty impressive, since Hayek’s line was launched only in August. On her line’s award, the 45-year-old actress said she wanted to create a beauty line that was available to all women. “I believe all women have the right to preserve their youth and their beauty,” she said. “Winning this award is a great legacy to the women in my family. I would like to thank the women who trusted me and helped to make the line successful so quickly.”
The 100+ collection of skincare, hair, body, and cosmetics is inspired by Hayek’s grandmother, a cosmetologist who made her own beauty remedies back in Mexico. Ingredients like prickly pear, tepezcohuite, blue agave, and lime are featured in the line.
In her November cover interview with Latina Magazine, Hayek said she didn’t know how to begin a beauty line, but that never stopped her from trying to learn. “It’s not that I said, ‘I’ve gotta do this no matter what.’ It was like, ‘I know how to act. I don’t know how to do this other thing, but I think I could,’” she said. “So I studied, I paid attention, I asked a lot of questions, I investigated each product. And then, in time, it came.”
And look where it brought her...congrats to Hayek on her award!
