You Ask, We Tell: The Best Makeup for Tan Skin

Among the outstanding questions our Facebook fans asked during the beauty Facebook chat on Friday was a query about what makeup colors complement tan skin.  We quickly answered with a few suggestions, but now that we’ve seen these recent photos of La La Anthony and Christina Milian we have to revisit!

Both of these gorgeous Latinas look bright-eyed and radiant, and here’s why:

  1. Pink cheeks. A bright pop of pink focused on the apples of the cheeks gives caramel skin tones a healthy glow. Try Iman Luxury Blushing Powder in Peace, $11,
  2. Shimmery eye shadow. A light shimmer contrasts perfectly with their warm, deep skin. Swipe CoverGirl Intense ShadowBlast in Brown Bling, $8,, on lids, then apply highlighter, like Benefit High Beam, $26,, directly underneath your eyebrows and in the inner corners of your eyes.
  3. Nude lips. If your lips are naturally dark, color them in with a light pinky-beige lip pencil, then layer on a nude gloss. Mally Beauty has a kit that comes with both pencil and gloss: Mally City Chick Nude Lip Kit, $25,
