If there’s one trend practically every celeb is trying right now, it’s the red lip. And we can see why—the color has a gorgeous glam factor. We’re especially loving how Paz Vega wears it. The berry tone and matte finish are bold but not too flashy. Plus, it’s perfect for daytime!
To get the look:
1) Start with a lip liner in the same color or one shade darker than the lipstick to prevent the color from bleeding outside the lines, says makeup artist Stephanie Flor. Outline the border of your lips, then color-in all but the center. “This will add depth to your pout,” advises Flor.
2) Now, apply one coat of lipstick (a good matte version that isn’t too drying is Nars Pure Matte Lipstick in Terre De Feu, $25, narscosmetics.com).
3) Press a tissue over your lips, then brush some translucent powder right on top of the tissue. This ensures that your color will last all day, Flor says.
4) Follow with another coat of lipstick. Most matte lipsticks now have hydrating ingredients, so they aren’t as drying as they were in the past. But if your lips do start to feel parched, apply a shine-free balm (like C.O. Bigelow Mentha Lip Balm Stick No Shine Formula, $5, bathandbodyworks.com), which will keep your matte finish intact.
