Braids aren't just for elementary school kids. Nicole Richie and Salma Hayek have been sporting the retro hairstyle at events. It's an earthy goddess look that would make Frida Kahlo proud.

Step 1: On one side of your head, take a 1-to-2 inch piece of hair from above one ear.

Step 2: Hold the piece vertically, pointing upward, and braid it, working from roots to ends (going upwards toward the ceiling). Fasten end of braid with an elastic.
