How Celebs Get Ready for the Emmys—and How You Can Get Red-Carpet Ready, Too!

It’s T minus two days till the Emmys, so the stars are now on the last part of their get-red-carpet-ready beauty plans. Preparing for a big night of your own? Steal their steps!
Five days before your event: Time to defuzz. Scheduling your waxing and brow shaping appointments now will ensure that any redness or pigmentation will calm down before the big day. If you prefer to tweeze your own brows, use Eva Longoria Parker’s brow shape as a guide. “Eva is petite and cute all over, and so are her brows,” says Eva’s brow expert, Anastasia Soare. “She’s a no fuss girl so I clean up her brows and maintain a natural feel so she looks groomed but not overdone. Be sure to keep your arch very natural like hers.”
Three days to go: A-listers check-in at the spa for a head-to-toe body exfoliation and wrap. The exfoliation will remove any dull, dead skin cells to reveal a brighter skin tone, while the wrap will leave skin super soft and smooth. Book an appointment for yourself, or do both steps in your shower: Buff a gritty body scrub (for a truly luxurious spa-like experience, I love Caudalie Crushed Cabernet Scrub, $29, sephora.com) all over your skin, then switch to a gentler scrub for your face (try St. Ives Fresh Skin Invigorating Apricot Scrub, $4.29, drugstore.com). Rinse, pat skin dry with a towel, then immediately apply body cream and face moisturizer.
The day before: Stars will log some serious hours at the salon getting a manicure and pedicure along with a hair color and cut. No time for the salon? File and paint your own nails (an orange-red shade, like MAC Nail Lacquer in Imperial Flower, $13, maccosmetics.com is hot right now). Wash hair, then apply an at-home clear shine treatment (like John Frieda Clear Shine Luminous Color Glaze, $9, amazon.com).
With just a few hours left: Put large velcro rollers in your hair, then heat them with a blow dryer to give your hair some extra oomph. Pluck any stray brow hairs that have popped up, apply your makeup (for an extra-glam look, be sure to put mascara on both top and bottom lashes and swipe on a red lipstick or gloss, like Chanel Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss in Excés, $32), spray your favorite dress-up scent, and you’re out the door!
