Shopping for your favorite beauty products can be hard on your wallet. Luckily, many of these must-have items can be made right in your home. Here are six simple DIY beauty products. 

1. DIY: Lipgloss

Lip Gloss

There is no better self-confidence booster than the right lip gloss! Sometimes finding the right combination of color and gloss can be tricky. This simple recipe will give a glossy pout, with just the right amount of color. 

What You’ll Need:

1 cup Vaseline or petroleum jelly

1 Package of Kool-Aid powder that’s the color of your choice (think pink, red, or orange)

Lip gloss containers or tins 


Place the Vaseline in a microwavable safe container and heat until the Vaseline is fully melted (CAUTION: this will be very hot!). Next, mix in Kool-Aid powder until it is completely dissolved. Pour the contents in a tin or lip gloss container, let it cool and solidify, and you have lip gloss that looks and tastes amazing. 

2. DIY: Dry Shampoo

Dry Shampoo 

Dry shampoo is everywhere these days, and why wouldn’t it be? It’s a quick and easy way to get your hair looking fabulous when you’re in a hurry. Many dry shampoos contains isobutane, butane, and propane, which can be harmful to your health. Also, many brands of dry shampoo can be super pricey. To get the same effect as store-bought brands all you need is a little cornstarch!

What You’ll Need:



Beginning with your roots, sprinkle cornstarch on the areas of your hair that are greasy and oily. Then, work the cornstarch through your hair with your fingers. Next, brush the cornstarch out of your hair and use a towel to remove excess oil. Last, style your hair as desired. 

3. DIY: Lotion


Finding the perfect lotion can be a challenge. There are lots of DIY lotion recipes out there, but after asking around, this recipe wins by a mile!

What You’ll Need:

16 ounces baby lotion

8 ounces coconut oil or petroleum jelly

8 ounces vitamin e cream


In a bowl, mix the lotion, coconut oil (or Vaseline) and vitamin e cream. Using a mixer, beat all the ingredients until light and fluffy, and place into containers or jars of your choice. This lotion is such a crowd pleaser, that you better be prepared to make a few more batches for your friends! 

4. DIY: Eyeliner


Every chica needs to have good eyeliner handy! The problem is, many eyeliners can be expensive and hard on the sensitive eye area. This easy all-natural recipe is easy on the eyes, and the pocket book!

What You’ll Need:

1/2 Ounce of coconut oil

1/2 ounce of cocoa powder

Old eye shadow containers


Melt coconut oil until it is at a liquid state. Next, grab the cocoa powder, and mix until it is all dissolved. Pour the remains into your old eye shadow containers, and let cool. Grab an eyeliner brush and use as desired. 

5. DIY: Teeth Whitening

There’s nothing better than a bright smile, which is why many of us run to the store for teeth whitening kits. Instead of spending your hard earned cash, on store-bought kits, try this recipe. 

What You’ll Need:

A few drops of hydrogen peroxide

1 teaspoon baking soda



Mix the baking soda, and hydrogen peroxide in a small bowl until it becomes a paste. Next use the paste to brush your teeth, but make sure not to swallow. Follow with your regular tooth brush routine, and before you know it, you will have pearly whites! 

6. DIY: Makeup Remover

Makeup Remover Wipes

Removing your makeup can be a drag, especially when you’re in a time crunch. While makeup removing wipes can make things easier, some can cause skin irritation. This gentile recipe is great for removing your makeup with out being irritating. 

What You’ll Need:

2 cups water

Tbsp (or two) of coconut oil

Face wash soap

Plastic container (to store wipes)

Paper towels (cut in half)


Start by pouring 2 cups of warm water into the plastic container. Add a tbsp. (or two) of coconut oil that has been melted in it’s liquid state. Next, add a squirt of face wash and stir everything together. Then place the paper towels inside the container, seal it, and place upside for five minutes. Turn the container right side up and remove the roll in the center of the paper towel, and you have yourselves makeup removing wipes for home and on the go.
