Davines has introduced two new styling products to their advanced For Wizards line, a Styling and Finishing Gel and N 12 Cement Powder (davines.com). Both allow you to create stiff hairstyles that would withstand tornados. The standout is the powder; made with resin, it can be sprinkled into just about any styling potion—be it a gel, cream or wax—to give it added (mega) hold. Hey, if you can’t get a grip on life, you can at least get a grip on your hair.

I washed my hair this weekend with my usual shampoo and conditioner, and when it came time to style I tried a new scientifically-based curl-defining cream that shall remain nameless (go ahead, take a guess!). It's a light cream that is supposed to be ultra frizz-fighting, but once I rubbed it throughout my hair, it left my curls parched like straw, even though I had also added my usual leave-in conditioner! They felt dry, looked dry and were frizzy—not good.

Many readers have inquired about the state of their brows in relation to their hair color. More specifically, when is it necessary to dye them? It may be tempting to color brows after you’ve made a drastic change in hair color—like, say, if you’ve gone from brunette to blonde. But the truth is that you don't have to be so matchy-matchy. Here’s the rule of thumb: If you can find the shade of your eyebrows somewhere on your head, you don’t need to dye them. So if you highlight your brown hair, chances are your dark brows won’t need to be lightened.
