Waves and curls were out in full bloom at last week’s Alma Awards. They proved to be the trend of the night. And it was such a treat to see Latina celebrities showcasing textured hair in different ways. These are my top three favorite styles:
I hardly recognized Brazilian beauty Jordana Brewster, who pulled back her signature shaggy bangs and sported flowing bohemian waves.

Somewhere Frieda Kahlo is smiling. The beauties of Oscar de la Renta gracefully stepped his spring runway with their heads wrapped in braids. Artfully woven with bright pieces of fabric that corresponded with each look, hairstylist Orlando Pita took de la Renta’s ladylike fashions to a truly traditional place. And we loved it!

It has to have been more than five years since I’ve replaced my blow dryer. I usually just wait until one dies to buy another. But I couldn’t resist trying the Barbar Eco 8000 Blow Dryer ($150, barbarartist.com) because it uses a ceramic device to create heat—instead of those metal coils found inside old-school dryers. It’s supposed to be more eco-friendly because it uses less energy and doesn’t give off as much radiation as traditional ones do.

We hear Cameron Diaz is busy filming her role as comic book comrade Lenore “Casey” Case in the movie adaptation of the Green Hornet. Not that we’re huge comic book loyalists here, but how cool are the visual similarities between the Cuban cutie and this cartoon rendering?
