I’ve always been curious about at-home hair and face masks. Do they really work? I decided to find out a couple of days ago when we received a gift basket in the office with Avocados from Mexico (you can find them at your local grocery store). I checked the brand’s website, www.avocadosfrommexico.com , and found recipes for easy-to-make beautifying treatments using avocados, along with some yummy recipes for dinner too.

All babies are cute. And your baby is the cutest, we’re sure. But we all have to agree Honor Marie Warren, daughter of Mexican actress Jessica Alba is looking super-fab adorable in her frilly fuschia flowered headband. The pop of color brings a flush to her baby cheeks and accents her long brown hair beautifully.

I don’t like to straighten my hair too often because my long curls make it a chore. However, I would try anything that claims to add shine to my hair, so I just straightened my locks with Remington Shine Therapy Conditioning Iron ($50, ulta.com). The ceramic plates in this tool are infused with Avocado Oil and Vitamin E to help make your hair shinier. These conditioners are released from the plates and onto your hair with the heat of the iron.

I take a long time shopping for hair products. This is mainly because I always read the ingredient list on the back of the bottles to find creams and conditioners without alcohol. I’ve heard alcohol can be drying to hair, and my curls definitely don’t need that. But no matter how much I try to avoid this ingredient, the products I end up finding usually have some kind of alcohol in them. Why would a conditioning product contain a drying ingredient?

I love hair accessories—headbands with bows, faux animal-skin barrettes, colorful bobby pins—you name it and I’ve decorated my hair with it. Right now, I’m loving this By LILLA Bloom headband ($84, bylilla.com). The large suede flowers come in different shades, from rich purple to grey. Created by three Colombian pals based out of Miami, By Lilla also offers tons of other fun handmade hair pieces with braided and stud detailing.

Chart-topping, mega-vocalist Mariah Carey has been sporting her naturally curly locks more often than usual. My curls always look the same, but Mariah has a way of changing hers up so that they look springy one day and more stretched out the next—both are beautiful, of course. At yesterday’s press conference for her new album Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel in Seoul, South Korea, her wide curls looked enviably smooth. I couldn’t help but wonder what she uses to keep her locks intact—aside from constant touchups from a celebrity hairstylist, I’m sure.
