A New Way to Fight Hair Frizz

As Latina’s Beauty Editor, I’m willing to try just about anything that promises to fix my frizzy hair—especially now that this summer’s extreme heat has turned my wavy hair into an unmanageable mess. So when Garnier sent me their new at-home smoothing treatment, I jumped at the chance to test drive it. Here’s the lowdown:
The product: Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Blow Dry Perfector ($12, ulta.com)

The claim: Frizz-free hair that lasts through seven shampoos

The process: After shampooing and towel-drying my hair (the directions say to skip conditioner), I combed the Step 1 Serum through, allowing it to set for twenty minutes. (The serum packs the hair with protein, which loosens the bonds that make hair frizzy). Then I rinsed, towel-dried again, applied the Step 2 Perfect-It Cream (this has rice oil to condition and smooth hair), and gave myself a blowout.

The results: So far, so great! I walked to work in the gross humidity and still have perfectly straight hair (check out my before and after pics for proof). Plus, my hair feels so soft that I can’t stop running my fingers through it. I’ll be sure to update you next week on how long this lasts!
