Holiday Beauty Week: Party-Perfect Hair for Any Occasion!

Whether you’re headed to a formal gala or your office get together these four easy styles will get you sexy in a snap!

1. Party Perfect Hair: Side Pony

Dance Ready Side-Pony:

STEP 1

Spray dry roots with a volumizer (try Matrix Total Results Wonder Boost, $16) to add lift.

STEP 2

Make a side part, then tie hair in a ponytail right behind your ear on the opposite side of your part.

STEP 3

For soft waves, wrap large sections around a large curling iron; for tight curls, grab small sections and curl with a small curling iron.

STEP 4

Use your fingers to pull apart some of the curls so they’re looser and fuller.

STEP 5

Finish with hair spray. An anti-humidity one (like Garnier Fructis Full Control, $4) will keep strands tame.

2. Party Perfect Hair: Side Sweep

Office Party Side-Sweep

STEP 1

Spritz dry shampoo (like Got2B Fat-Tastic, $6) all over your scalp to absorb oil and lift your roots.

STEP 2

Make a side part. With the end of a comb, part hair in line with the arch of your eyebrow.

STEP 3

Spritz strands with a light-hold hair spray (try Sebastian Professional Shaper, $17), then wind small sections around a curling rod (like the T3 SinglePass Whirl, $130).

STEP 4

Run your fingers through your hair a few times to turn tight curls into loose, softer waves.

STEP 5

On the smaller side of your part, gather the front section from hairline to part line. Pin it two inches backwith two crisscrossed bobby pins; then clip your glitzy accessory on top.

3. Party Perfect Hair: Black-Tie Updo

Black-Tie Updo:

STEP 1

Buy a doughnut-shaped bun form (like Conair Bun Maker, $3, shown here) and a braided hair extension that matches your hair color (try POP Clip-In Braid, $9, ulta.com).

STEP 2

Brush hair into a super-tight high ponytail that sits slightly behind the top of your head. (If your hair is curly, wet it and then brush it back). Fix any flyaway strands with hair spray.

STEP 3

Attach the bun form by pulling your ponytail through the doughnut hole, then pinning it to the base of the ponytail.

STEP 4

Divide the ponytail into two even sections and fan them out over the doughnut, securing with a ponytail holder. Wind any extra hair around the base, pinning it in place.

STEP 5

Wrap the braided extension around your bun, hide the ends underneath, and then pin.

4. Party Perfect Hair: Chignon

Cocktail Party Chignon:

STEP 1

Part your hair to one side, then pull all of it over the opposite shoulder.

STEP 2

Sweep hair into a low ponytail. Make sure the ponytail pulls over your ear and sits just below and behind it. “You want to be able to see the bun when you look straight ahead,” says Osorio.

STEP 3

Braid the ponytail, securing it with an elastic. This will help bulk up your bun so it won’t look too tiny.

STEP 4

Now, mess up the braid by gently pulling it on both sides so it’s wider and a bit undone.

STEP 5

Wrap the braid around itself loosely to create a bun, then pin in place.
