Does This Really Work: Exfoliating Shampoo
Does This Really Work: Exfoliating Shampoo
My scalp can feel itchy during cold weather months, and considering we’re still having breezy temperatures in NYC, I decided to try an exfoliating shampoo to treat the area. I used Davines Awakening Oxygenating Scrub Shampoo ($23), a shampoo with tiny jojoba beads to help remove dead skin cells that lead to buildup. When you first pour some on your hand it’s a light green creamy liquid with small pebbles that you would think is a facial scrub instead of a shampoo. Regardless, I massaged my scalp with the formula for a few minutes.
It contains essential peppermint oil, so it had a minty fresh scent and felt cool on my skin. This shampoo also has an ingredient made from bees called propolis extract that acts as an anti-inflammatory to soothe irritated scalps. It definitely soothed mine, which continued to feel tingly even after I washed off the scrub. It’s a little tricky to remove all the beads, though. You have to take your time and rinse really well. But the experience felt like a spa treatment for my scalp—no more scratching here.
