Curly Qs: Hair Loss Scare
| 04/01/2009 - 12:15 |
Do you ever get scared of how much hair you lose daily or when you detangle? I always cringe when I see fallen curls on my clothes and the load of hair left on my comb after I untangle. I’ve asked several hairstylists what gives and luckily, they’ve all agreed on the reason. It’s common for those who don’t brush their hair daily (like most of us girls with curly hair) to notice more hair on clothes, the floor of your bathroom and everywhere else but the hair brush.
Since I don’t wash my hair everyday, when I do comb with lots of conditioner in the shower, the hair left on my comb is the equivalent of how much I would leave on my daily brush. Experts say it’s normal to lose about 100 strands a day. Tugging at knots, stress, malnutrition or other serious health issues can cause more hair then usual to fall out. Make sure to check-in with your doctor if you notice excessive hair loss or clumps falling out at once. Your tresses can tell you a lot about your health!
