Curly Qs: Are Bangs an Option?

istockphoto.com
¿Como estan? Thank you so much for your comments and product suggestions, I look forward to trying them out! This is going to be a fun adventure talking about curly love and drama.

Reader Estrella Martinez wrote and said she was tired of having the same hairstyle and was unsure about getting curly bangs. Estrella, I totally know what you mean about feeling like you’ve had the same hairstyle forever. I’ve always wondered how I’d look with bangs, but never got them. Curly bangs can be tricky; it all depends on how tight your curls are. Have you tried getting layers? I think they are a great option to getting a new look and bringing life and bounce back to tired, weighed-down curls. The day I got my first layered cut was a wake-up call for me and my hair- I had a new do and my locks looked rejuvenated! You can start off by trying face-framing layers, where your stylist will cut a few shorter lengths around your face. If you’re feeling brave, you can ask to get layers all throughout your crown. That’s what I have now and I love my cut. Do you have other ideas on how to transform a lackluster haircut? How many of you have curly bangs and if so, how do you maintain them? Please keep the comments coming!

Xoxo,

Sandra

Hi Sandra I also have curly hair and I love all comments and suggestions. Please keep them coming. Thanks Dania
I actually did my own bangs! This summer I cut the split ends on the front of my head and I ended up giving myself bangs. All I did was cut off small sections of locks at the front with an unused scissor and vioala! These new bangs not only got rid of my split ends but they looked fabulous! To treat my curls all I do is slightly pat dry my hair after I shower and dab on anti- freeze hair serum. I rub about a quarter-sized amount in my hands and then slather that on sections throughout my hair. My bangs are a section of their own. If I wanna go out, then I add gel or mouse for more style and definition.
I just had my daughters hair cut since she was like 2. I thought it'd be a good idea to have layers put in but decided not to in fear that I would mess her head up. I don't have curly hair so I don't dare do anything that will have my daughters hair looking a mess. So I just had her ends cut. Which gave me another problem. I wanted to give her a rounded bottom shape at the end of her hair. But the person that cut her hair (who has curly hair too; so I let her be my guide) told me it wouldn't look right and we just went with straight ends. It looks alright but I'm not crazy about it. Any tips on how to tame my daughters hair would be helpful. I usually have her wash her hair then add muse and gel to give her the wet look. But the wet look frizzes up by the end of the day.
I'm so excited this is about curly hair, mine is really curly and I sometimes get so frustrated with it. Curly bangs are hard to keep up I had them when i was little and they never looked right. I have layers now and I like how it looks.
