Giannillo The Salon
217 East 60th Street, NYC
Here in New York City, there are hair salons on every corner. However, newcomer Giannillo The Salon is perfectly poised to become a favorite full-service beauty spot to stylish Manhattanites. The intimate space looks and feels like a 1940s boudoir, a mix of art deco décor and pin-up girl glamour. Mirrored vanities replace the typical cluttered work stations, while stylists stash their blowers, irons and supplies in invisible wall cabinets. So chic! After a complimentary glass of wine, women might be swayed to stay on after their blow-outs to have a bikini wax. Waxing rooms are private, clean and stocked with gentle pine wax. A mani-pedi station is also available. With so much to offer, one would think the salon would be a bustling assembly line. But the warm ambiance and welcoming atmosphere—created by co-owners Gregg Giannillo and Anson Gilbert-Giannillo—make every visit feel like a trip to your best-girlfriend’s bedroom. And the best part? Walk-ins are not only welcomed, they are encouraged! The grand opening is Dec. 1, but feel free to check it out now. As good as you’ll look when you’re ready to leave, it’s almost impossible to make it out the door.
