How-To: Get Big, Bouncy Curls

hair_article300.jpg

To make these sexy curls, you have to apply heat to long hair. And according Javier Oropeza of Sterling Salon in Studio City, California, you can apply heat in two different ways: Hot rollers or a curling iron. Oropeza says a curling iron is the better bet for people who already have a little wave and layers in their hair.

Step 1: Wash and dry your hair.

Step 2: Apply a volumizer for curls, such as Barex Mousse or Barex Re-define Creme on damp hair to keep curls intact.

Pouf! The Instant Updo

Take your bangs (or, if you don’t have bangs, take the hair in the front of your head that would be your bangs) and tease them at the root. Brush the hair back, smoothing it on top of your head; push that section of hair forward, just a bit, so you’re left with a pompadour-like pouf in the front. Use bobby pins to pin the ends down. Spray with a bit of hair spray then sweep up the rest of your hair in any updo you like!
