Get The Look: Smoky Eyes

Whoever first said, “Where there’s smoke, there’s fire,” must have been talking beauty— because the smoky eye transforms every woman to smokin’-hot status!

Even better: Achieving the look is quick and easy! Here’s how to do it right.

1. SMOKY EYES: Camilla Alves

In Your 20s

This is the age to get dramatic, like Camilla Alves does here.

Start by lining your entire eye—inside the lashline, from outer to inner corner on both top and bottom—in the darkest black liner you’ve got. (Just make sure to sharpen the pencil first; you’ll get a more precise line that way.) Then apply black or dark grey shadow to your eyelid, starting from the top of your lashes to the crease, blending outward for a cat-eye effect.

Add a light grey or sheer silver to the browbone, and finish with several coats of volumizing mascara. A dab of light gloss on your lips and you’re all set!

2. SMOKY EYES: Zoe Saldana

In Your 30s

Now’s the time to go for sophisticated glamour with the latest take on the smoky eye: Shades of brown!

Like Zoe Saldana, start by lining your eyes with dark brown liner, then apply a bronze shadow on your lid from lashline to crease. Follow with a dark brown shadow applied only to the outer corner of your eye and the crease, blending the edges for a sultry effect.

Leave your browbone bare, or give it a dusting with a light, neutral shade, and curl your lashes before applying mascara. A hint of berry gloss or lipstick ensures you’ll be a bronze bombshell!

3. SMOKY EYES: Daisy Fuentes

Embrace this decade by going for an ultra-feminine and flirty look!

Daisy Fuentes gets it right by applying black liner to only three-quarters of her lashline on top and bottom, leaving the inner corner bare. Smudging the liner with your finger, brush or cotton swab will help keep your look youthful.

You should also avoid shimmery eye shadow shades, which highlight crepey skin.  Instead, sweep dark matte shadow across your lids from lashline to crease, and add

white or metallic highlighter to the inner corner of your eyes to open them up. Leave the browbone bare, but do dab on an illuminating concealer under the eye for a brightening effect.

To create additional warmth to your skin, opt for a peach or pink lipstick in a medium shade—and get ready to turn heads!
