Stress and Acne: What You Need to Know

It’s a fact: Stress can make acne and breakouts worse. There has been a reported uptick in the number of patients visiting dermatologist offices with skin conditions lately. And considering the times we live in now, this is not surprising, nor is it good news. The exact cause can be speculated, but stress is a factor. And while stress may not cause breakouts, it can make them worse.

Does This Really Work: Nail Art Pens

I have to admit, I like getting little designs on my nails when I go to the salon. The manicurists make the prettiest little flowers on my toenails or the nails on my ring fingers so easily. I, on the other hand, can barely keep my hand steady to paint my nails with a simple coat of polish. In an attempt to master their detailed artwork, I tested Sally Hansen Nail Art Pen ($8, available at Walgreens). The pens look more like fine point sharpies and come in 8 shade options. The instructions say to use on top of a base coat or a shade of your choice.

As promised, here is another bargain item that is curly hair approved: Citri Shine Color Prism Glossing Gelle, $4 at drugstores. This isn’t your traditional shine serum or oil. It’s actually a light gel consistency that leaves your curls shiny with nada de grasa! I tried this on my damp hair first and then on dry hair, and got non-crunchy, polished results each time.
