Curly Qs: A Chat With John Frieda

I used to live by my diffuser when I was younger, spending precious time crunching each curl. Recently, though, I’ve been air-drying due to a lack of time and diffusing on special occasions. You can imagine my shock when a hairstylist told me months ago that diffusing can create frizz because it’s concentrated heat that can lead to fluffed up curls. So, at a recent event, I met Mr. John Frieda, of Frizz-Ease fame, and we had a conversation about diffusers.

Does This Really Work: Tarte Bottoms Up-Lower Lash Mascara

A great trick to make eyes stand out for a night out is to apply mascara on the lower lash line. It’s not an everyday thing, you don’t want makeup overload, but it definitely makes an impact and complements a smokey eye. Regular brushes can be hard to manage and too big to comb through these smaller lashes, translating into a messy situation. The new Tarte Bottoms Up-lower lash mascara ($16) is meant to solve this problem.

We’ve had crazy weather in New York City recently with frequent snowstorms. For me—and several staff members—this translates into bad hair days. I love snow, but it hasn’t been treating my curls with any love. So, in the mornings, I like to check the Frizz Forecast on naturallycurly.com to find out how my hair will hold up each day. This is a great resource! The homepage has a section to input a zip code and find out the humidity percentage and temperature in that area.
