Commentary: It’s Not OK For Abercrombie & Fitch To Tell Me I’m Too Fat

As a former fat girl (and definitely not-so-cool kid), I am saddened and outraged by these comments. It’s really difficult to shop for clothes when you’re overweight. Nothing ever fit right and I certainly wasn’t happy with the image I saw in the mirror. That was my problem though, and I don’t want some store telling me I’m excluded because I’m too fat and therefore uncool in their eyes. That’s just disgusting behavior on their part.

To be honest, I don’t currently own and have never owned anything from Abercrombie & Fitch. Now I know why, even when I got down to a size 6, nothing looked great from that store. Perhaps they think curves are also an “uncool” thing?

Meanwhile, there’s at least one store doing it right. H&M recently released their latest catalog, which is starring 24-year-old plus-size model Jennie Runk. She has gained fans almost overnight thanks to sexy swimsuit shots.
