When was the last time you had a real heart to heart? I just had one after years of putting it off. I’m not talking about with your spouse or someone you love, rather, with your doctor about your heart? On Friday, February 6 for National Wear Red Day — part of the #GoRedforWomen movement in support of heart health awareness — we all wore our red dresses as we do every year to remind women about what could be a lifesaving issue.
It’s that most wonderful time of the year, of course, but also the most stressful and unhealthy time of the year. Now that the holidays are upon us, ‘tis the season when our diets and good intentions go bust … along with our budgets.
I was having the time of my life… I was 26, planning my wedding -- which was a few months away, and starting my first on air job as an anchor and reporter. I have always believed one of the best ways to teach your kids is by doing. Show them the way. The same is true for health and fitness. My husband and I are avid fitness buffs and try to work out several times a week, we also watch what we eat and encourage our kids to try new things.

I am daughter of foreign service officers and despite the fact that I was born in Brazil, my life was non-stop travel (France, Italy, Morroco, UK) and work. Love eventually brought me to the U.S. Even though, I've been here for almost 6 years (I am now a married mother of two), it's kind of hard to fit in to this new American way of life. You're American-born, but half Puerto Rican and half Brazilian. How do you manage that?
