Argentina's Leonardo Sandri may be in the running to become the first Latin American to lead the world’s one billion Roman Catholics after Pope Benedict XVI announced his resignation Monday.   
In the midst of what was supposed to be a routine meeting with cardinals about potential saints, Pope Benedict (born Joseph Ratzinger) delivered the news in Latin that he is resigning on Feb. 28 because of old age. Benedict will become the first pope in 600 years to resign.

9-Year-Old Girl Gives Birth To Baby Girl In Mexico, 17-Year-Old Dad on the Run

Sad, but supposedly true. A 9-year-old girl named Dafne reportedly gave birth to a healthy 5.7 pound baby girl by cesarean section on Jan. 27 at Zoquipan Hospital in Jalisco, Mexico. The girl was only 8 years old when she became pregnant.

The father of the child is 17 and apparently on the run. Dafne said they were dating and when he asked her to move in with him, she refused. State authorities are searching for the father of the child to get his own account of their relationship. He may be criminally charged for having sex with a minor.
