2001: The Dream Act Proposed in Senate

The DREAM Act, which would let kids brought illegally to the U.S. to achieve legal status in exchange for attending college or signing up for military service, is proposed in Senate for the first time. Nine years later, in December 2010, a Senate filibuster killed the latest version.
