The 10 Best Latino Albums of 2012!

Music lovers know that 2012 produced plenty of tracks to swing our hips to, get over a broken heart to, and everything in between. Here's a list of the best Latino albums we couldn't stop listening to this year. Which is your favorite?

Romeo Santos - Formula, Vol. 1

From his intro with Jorge Lopez to his collaboration with Usher for “Promise,” the former Aventura frontman proved that he owns the formula for solo success. His debut album earned plenty of acclaims and awards this year, including a Grammy nomination for “Best Tropical Album.” Thanks to his romantic bachatas, the album also became Billboard's number one Latin selling album of the year. Now that’s something to dance to.

2. Best Albums 2012: Juanes

Juanes Tr3s Presents MTV Unplugged Juanes

The Colombian roquero delivered a perfect balance between his classic hits and new tracks for his fans. We fell in love with "Todo en mi vida eres tu" and "La Señal" just as much as listening to re-mastered versions of our old favorites like “Fijate Bien.” No wonder he racked up at the Latin Grammy Awards this year and won “Album of the Year” and “Best Long Form Music Video.” This one is a must in our music collection!

3. Best Albums 2012: Prince Royce

The talented New York native’s sophomore album solidified his voice in the industry and helped him shed the title of bachata newbie. Thanks to the help of Grammy-winning music producer Sergio George, Royce’s album spawned hits like “Incondicional” and “Close To You.” He also won eight Latin Billboard Awards this year and even beat out Romeo Santos in the “Album of the Year” category. Yes, Prince Royce is here to stay!


4. Best Albums 2012: Jenni Rivera

Jenni Rivera - La Misma Gran Señora

The late regional Mexican singer’s legacy lives on in her music. This collection, which includes classics and new hits, highlights the endless talent and powerful performance that only La Diva de la Banda could deliver. Songs like "Besos y Copas" and "Que me vas a dar" remind us that she will always be our Gran Señora.

5. Best Albums 2012: Wisin Y Yandel

The Mexican singer symbolizes her growth as a multicultural pop star with songs that have influences of bachata, salsa, and mambo. The album is also heavy on collaborations with a range of artists including, Prince Royce, Michael Bublé, and Gilberto Santa Rosa. It’s no wonder why her career has lasted over two decades!

7. Best Albums 2012: Pitbull

Pitbull - Global Warming

Filled with addictive hooks and raunchy verses, Mr. Worldwide’s latest album aims to please. Following the same formula as Planet Pit, this production is filled with all-star collaborations including Christina Aguilera, Chris Brown, Usher, Afrojack, Jennifer Lopez, and Enrique Iglesias. The Cuban rapper raises the bar in every way possible. His video for “Don’t Stop The Party,” which features video models drinking Voli and partying like “Girls Gone Wild” was even banned in the U.K. Talk about bringing the heat!

Who wasn’t swaying to Don’s infectious tracks this year? His latest album spawned the song of the year “Dutty Love,” featuring Nati Natasha, which helped him win a total of eight Latin Billboards and dominate the Latin Pop chart this year. This reggaetonero is constantly innovating the genre and we love him for it.

9. Best Albums 2012: Daddy Yankee

We were swaying our hips and getting our Zumba on to El Cangri’s new album thanks to tracks like, “Perros Salvajes” and “Limbo.” The Puerto Rican rapper pays homage to the classic reggaeton style without leaving behind his modern masterpieces.
